Mindstorm

A fearsome & fantastic journey to the heart of the Savage Id.

Name:
Location: Invisible City, North Dakota, United States

Read my book, The Mind-Warp Era. It'll tell you about the real Lead--& his alter-ego, the true Rootboy covered with slime (the Savage Id). Partly a poignant memoir, partly a cosmicomic book, it relays the Id's adventures thru dark dimensions of funereal dread, with Timothy Leary as co-pilot. (The rumors of his death have been greatly exaggerated.)

plumber

Since Kim (not Othy) of Kim's plumbing/refrigeration fixed the saddle valve that was dripping in the basement, we've been using the tub down there for our showers, as he said that the tub up here was "overflowing", which could potentially cause all sorts of damage. However, when Craig from Wagner Plumbing came over -- the same day Kim came, as I'd left a message -- he said it should be a really simple job to fix the busted faucet.

So when Craig came over yesterday, he shut the water off & started to take the valve apart, but was stymied by a rusted nut. Wouldn't budge. He asked if there was an access panel in the kitchen, & "if not, we'll have to cut one". So he pulled out the refrigerator & found one, but someone had nailed the hell out of it. Once he did have it off, he found something behind it -- a chimney for the heater downstairs.

Finally, when all else failed, he went to the hardware store & came back with a can of WD-40 & sprayed out the nut. After that, it took about 15-20 minutes to install the new fixtures.

Once he left, I ran over to the soup kitchen. It was a beautiful day; high of 70. After getting my bowl of soup & a sermon, I went to Albertson's to stock up on some sale items. I came home & edited Ch.1 & 1/2 of Ch.2 of Mindstorm, in which Lead is fully immersed in the Savage Id & battles the chaotically mercurial, singing machine elves. People who've read the iUniverse version think the story doesn't really start to move until Ch.4, so I'm editing the hell out of Ch.2, which is 40 pp., give or take a few. I plan on working on it some this morning, after Trish goes driving with Trish-uh!, & then again in the afternoon, when she's at work. The biggest problem is writing a query letter for an agent. I'm a (sort of) genre writer, at least in stories like Arn or The Noc-Lar (& piss on David Dalglish), but my Savage Id is a mainstream novel, despite VADIS & other elements of good Dick. Finding an exact balance is difficult, & admitting to my illness (& piss on I Ron Steele) counter-productive. I'd have Car-girl help, but she's sick.

So Trish needs a ride to Great Falls Tuesday-Wednesday for a follow-up to her MRI, & Car-girl can't drive. Karen talked Bryan into helping, so today I'm going to have to call Dr. Astle's office, make an appointment, & then call Medicaid transport so we can get our motors running & head out on the highway.
